How to Export Bank Transactions

Unfortunately, there is no consistency from bank to bank in language and export tool location. Repeat the generalized instructions below for each of your bank, savings, and credit card providers.

  1. Log in to your financial institution
  2. Select the link to view all recent transactions
  3. Look for wording such as "Download transactions,” “Download account details," or "Export account history"
  4. Export transactions in .csv or .xls format for the time period provided by your SmartPath Financial Coach
  5. Upload the file in MySmartPath. Do not email sensitive banking information.


For banks we see often, we've created custom instructions below.

Bank of America

  1. Log in to your banking account
  2. Click the account name (at the center of the window) for each account where you wish to download your transactions
  3. Click the blue "Download" link at the top of the Account Activity section in the center of the window
  4. A new box will open where you can select a transaction period from previous statements OR assign a custom date range select the date range provided to your by your SmartPath Coach
  5. Next, use the drop down arrow to select File type: Microsoft Excel Format
  6. Then, click the blue "Download transactions" button
  7. Your transactions spreadsheet will automatically download to your computer
  8. Upload the file in MySmartPath. Do not email sensitive banking information.
